Airlines Begin Charging for Everything…

Extra bag? That will cost you.

Primary bag? That will cost you.

Coffee or Water? Yep, that will cost you. 

In the never-ending we are going a la carte for everything, airlines are now getting aggressive in finding things to charge for. Luggage, movies, and food was just the beginning. 

JetBlue to Sell Pillows and Blankets to Fliers 

JetBlue announced Monday they plan to charge for pillows and blankets. For $7 you get a 10”x12” pillow, a blanket, and a $5 coupon for Bed Bath & Beyond. 

US Airways to charge for water 

Last week; US Airways began charging $1 for coffee or tea and $2 for bottled water and soft drinks.

Want a seat? There is a charge for that.

Want your luggage back? There is a charge for that.

Want to use the restroom? Yep, that will cost you $1 or $2  depending on…never mind.

Return of the Four-Day Workweek…

It is the 70’s all over again. 

How would you like to work four 10-hour days a week instead of five eight-hour days? 

The 2008 National Study of Employers shows that 38 percent of US companies allow a compressed workweek for some employees. 

The four-day workweek was big in the 70’s during the gas crisis. Many people loved it while still others didn’t know what to do with the extra time on their hands (apparently Bars noticed an increase in business). It went away when gas prices came back to affordable levels. (more…)
